On February 11, 2009 HealthDataPSO was officially listed by the US Department of Health and Human Services as a federal Patient Safety Organization under the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005.  HealthDataPSO will serve as a PSO directly to hospitals, hospital groups, long term care facilities, as well as other healthcare providers  and component PSO’s.

The Patient Safety Act of 2005 extends legal privilege and confidentiality protections to health care providers who voluntarily submit patient safety event information to Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs). The PSOs will assist health care providers in developing and implementing patient safety improvement strategies. The Patient Safety Act also authorizes the creation of a Network of Patient Safety Databases (NPSD). The NPSD will receive non-identifiable information regarding patient safety events and perform analysis on the aggregated data. The goal is to create a learning system for quality improvement strategies for PSOs and health care providers.

HealthDataPSO is an entity formed from the combination of experts and technology of two premier organizations: CCD Health Systems and Medical Error Management.  CCD Health Systems provides enterprise-level software solutions focusing on risk management and process improvement. With 14 years of engineering experience, CCD provides the most advanced solutions for reducing medical errors and improving patient safety. Medical Error Management, although a new company, is staffed with quality expertise with 20+ years of experience and clinicians’ expertise with 25+ years servicing hundreds of acute, post acute and long-term care facilities. 

All information, fitting the common format template or any other event description, submitted to HealthDataPSO is designated Patient Safety Work Product and as such will be protected by the act.  Information can be submitted in various ways to accommodate any in house or commercial adverse event system whether it is automated or not.    HealthDataPSO will aggregate this data and make reports available immediately in order that comparisons can be made against your own history or the history of others.  All of this will be done keeping all sources and data anonymous.

We offer several levels of participation and can accommodate single facilities, multiple facilities, multiple departments, functions within departments, and time and phase based policies and procedures.
